Work Smarter, Not Harder

Perseverance. Regard. Hustle.

www.getmiro.com - source of inspiration

After talking with business owners today, I understand the importance of honesty. A humble attitude makes people want to talk to you. And if you absorb enough information, you can really help others around you. The go-getter attitude is great, but it doesn't mean anything unless you actually execute...with enthusiasm. I love my life, my family, my career, and people. I'm on top of a mountain, and I'm preaching my mission the whole time; Get a grip, and let it ride...God has this on lock. I'm going to see what happens in the next few weeks, because something big is about to happen. Is there anyone out there that actually reads this?

I'm ready to get this week started. Birthday Party, Website Launch, Product Development, Whatever I can do to make money for my company, my family, and my church. I'm ready to make moves. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Get Captain Dave connected by setting up a break-time pool tourney for all Mustangs.
Get a limo service to shuttle the day event, and take home for the night event.
After you create a final concept plan to present, present it to the team, then take it to the prospective vendors, then provide them with a schedule and package.
Take advantage of the free volkswagon. Maybe we could get some sort of fun things going. Maybe we could get an airbrush artist to set-up an art demo. That would be a good thing to do for Polanski's free car.

New Connections

I've had the opportunity to meet some new people today. First I met Ben Eisenberg from Play. Play is a gamer lounge off of Oleander and College. They host video game tournaments and usually have a decent following. I went in there and noticed how minimal their marketing was. It seems like they just started, apparently they've been open since October 08. Ben mentioned the UNCW advertising club, and how they provide for them at no cost...interesting. Anyways, I broke it down to them, and Ben seemed pretty interested in the idea. He wanted to check with his business partner to see what he felt, but all looked very optimistic. I'd love for them to come in and host a bracket style racing tournament, we could offer a prize to the champ. I think what I'll do is run this idea to the majority of the guys, and get their input on the concept. I told the guys at play to have T-shirts made, I'm not sure we can play for them, but who knows. I can get them to pay for iron-ons and we can make-shift a staff tee for them. I need to come up with a plan for them. I wouldn't mind designing a flyer for them, in which they would have to get printed. I think it would be good publicity for them actually. Perhaps they need business cards? Anyways, come up with an outline to show them, let's go over there tomorrow afternoon and drop off a few things.

I met with Robb from Go Auto Sound. He was an awesome guy. Awesome conversation, and really got a great insight for this town. Business with him could be good. we talked a lot about interaction with people/customers, and the value of relationships. Especially in this business. He mentioned about how he wanted to have get-togethers with different business owners to share and brainstorm on things. I think its a great idea. I recall him referring to the idea of Strategic Alliance. That is very key in this town. He had some really good things to say about life, and I think he'll be a great resource for us. He is gung-ho about networking, and that is great. I am all about making friends in this game. He also referred me to Shannon at Carolina Tint Company. Anyways, he may have some side-work for me, and I think we'll have a product to raffle off for him. Hopefully he comes through with a sick ass vehicle for show. He mentioned to me his friend that works up at the Minuteman press Corporate shop. If there is any possibility, I may need to connect with him.

I spoke to the guy at Warehouse 9. They may be able to set-up a demo on Saturday. That would be sweet! Follow up with that on Friday.

Lindsey spoke to me about Southpaw, a new sports bar downtown. I think this could have some potential as well. Don't overlook Surfs. They are close and they are new. See if there is a gift certificate that could be raffled off. You may be able to pick up some sidework.

I talked to Joe over at Empire Graphics. I'm hoping to get these jobs turned around, and I need to sit down with him for some brain picking. He could be very valuable for our business.

I spoke to Nick and Brennan. I've got a telephone meeting with Brennan during lunch tommorow. I've got a few stops to make around town, and I've got a crap ton of designing to do Friday. Not to mention the new website design, and implementation. I really need to get with Andy.

That's all I got for now. Let's roll son.

Brand Manager Itinerary

There are a few loose ends to pick up. The business cards and sticker order from Joe is a priority. Double checking the banner situation with Captain Dave Tilley is important. I have a few event flyers to produce. Nina requested a few things for the march 7th event. I believe it was an after party flyer. I have a meeting with Robb from Go Auto Sound at 12:30. I need to find out where.

This position is very cool. It's a mesh of marketing/branding/design/product development/event coordinating/public relations/creative direction. This will definitely be a challenge. Since my role is very dynamic, I'll be multi-tasking many projects. So planning, and task management is going to be very key.

Back on track

Hello! I'm back on the blog. I think...

I really want to be good at this, you know. It seems like the thing to do these days, so fuck it. I'm in! I've gone through some incredible changes in my life since 2007, you'll never believe me. I've gone from college student to senior designer/brand manager/artist/christian/parent/husband/hustler/gambler/careerist. And, there is more to come. I've been doing some crazy personal growth in a very short amount of time, and I really do owe it all to the Big Guy Upstairs. God is the man, and I'm thankful for everyday I'm given. My wife is a huge part of my success, and my daughter keeps me full of inspiration. Life is crazy! Anyways, I've got a lot going on at the shop so I've got to go. Peace!
